Behavioural change

Why is this important?

Even the most successful individuals have character traits or behaviours that negatively impact on their performance, or aversely affect those around them. They may not be aware of how their behaviour impacts on colleagues or clients.

Common negative traits in management include:

  • failing to control emotions and projecting these on to others
  • constant criticism of others that creates a demotivated workforce
  • aggression that is interpreted as intimidation or bullying
  • unpredictability causing loss of initiative and fear
  • abuse of alcohol or drugs inside or outside the workplace
  • perfectionism and/or controlling nature that stifles the development of others
  • limiting self beliefs undermining performance

The behaviours are usually the surface presentation of underlying psychological issues. These may have roots in past events which need to be resolved or redefined. Inappropriate behaviours can lead to a de-motivated, disillusioned workforce that is underperforming and can adversely affect the culture of your business as well as having a negative impact on your reputation, performance and profit.

How O" can help you

O" have developed a broad range of 1-2-1 coaching interventions to deal with almost all behavioral problems in the workplace. We can also help resolve the underlying psychological issues, limiting self beliefs or past events that are driving the negative behaviours. Each programme will be designed specifically for the individual concerned but will be based around the following process model:

  • increasing self awareness of the damaging or limiting behaviours where necessary, confronting the behaviours
  • giving constructive feedback to the candidate
  • developing emotional intelligence
  • exploring alternative appropriate behaviours
  • consciously practicing the new skills or behaviours
  • integrating the new behaviours
  • reviewing progress and monitoring change
